Monterosa

Monterosa is located in rural Tuscany approx. 35 km east of Pisa. The house has a lovely garden immersed in 3 hectares of surrounding woodland and olive groves and is situated on a hill with beautiful unspoilt views over the Tuscan countryside.

The house is furnished as a home with a mix of English and Italian character so you will not get the feeling of staying in rented accommodation. The ground floor comprises of a large entrance which leads into a a drawing room with library filled with English books and a collection of English film in DVD and also a CD music collection. A digital flat screen TV with English Sky satelite connected to a Bose surround system, makes this perfect to watch/hear your favorites artists.

Off to the right of this room is an open plan sitting room of 60 square metres, with French windows overlooking the valley. At one end of the room is a stone fireplace for winter use. The adjacent dinning room which seats 10 comfortably leads upstairs via stairs or into a fully equipped kitchen. The owner is kean on cooking, so has put in double electric ovens, a gas hob and an halogen electric hob, a dishwasher and every other convenience. Also downstairs is a utility room with washing machine, dryer and ironing equipment.

On the upper floor there are three large double bedrooms with marble bathrooms en suite, plus a twin bedded room with shower. The bathroom of the master bedroom has a large jet shower as well. There is plenty of cupboard and storage space in all bedrooms.

Al fresco eating for 10 people opposite the kitchen is possible under the umbrellas. In the garden is a traditional farm barn, a working wood burning oven and a wood barbecue and a swimming pool. The pool, with fine views over the countryside is set away from the house for those who want peace and quiet whilst others splash away. There is ample pool furniture (8 sun loungers with cushions, a few armchairs and an outside shower). 

With "green in mind", geothermic heating has been installed which works on the natural temperature of the land, so operates without gas or oil. In winter, under floor heating supplies the ground floor and radiators on the first floor which also double up to provide cooling air in the summer. This geothermal system is not air conditioning but it produces a similar cooling effect inside the house if it is very hot outside.

An unpaved road leads to the house, this access is not suitable for low slung cars.

The nearest village is Marti (4 km) with a bar, restaurant and food store. Montopoli Val d'Arno (8 km) has a larger supermarket.

There are many walks and paths to explore and the area is ideal for both adults and children. The area is well-known for the famous white truffles and indeed one of the largest truffles ever found in the area was found in the woods behind the house.

The sandy beaches of Tirrenia, Pisa, Lucca, Volterra, San Gimignano, and the many wonderful hill towns of Tuscany are in easy reach, and Florence (50 km) can even be reached by train from Pontedera (15 km), the nearest large town.
