Historical villa with large garden in walking distance to town
Villa Rubini is a magnificent historic villa in the charming Renaissance town of Asolo, perched on a hill and offering breathtaking views of the foothills of the Alps and the vast plains of Veneto. The villa is located on the edge of the stunning village of Asolo, below the city's historic fortress. The picturesque historic centre of Asolo is in walking distance, it can be reached in a few minutes.
Known as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Asolo is set amidst an enchanting landscape where Palladian villas and medieval walled towns blend seamlessly with rolling vineyards. Over the centuries, its allure has captivated renowned artists and intellectuals, including Robert Browning, Eleonora Duse, Ernest Hemingway, Igor Stravinsky, and Freya Stark. Asolo harmoniously combines history and culture with the pleasures of modern living. Visitors can enjoy excellent restaurants, charming cafés, and welcoming wine bars, where the celebrated Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG - a sparkling expression of this unique land - can be savored.
The sumptuous villa was commissioned in 1691 by Cardinal Gian Battista Rubini, bishop of Vicenza. It is an outstanding example of the region's architectural heritage. Perched high on a hillside, the villa enjoys sweeping views across the Asolo plain, extending to the Euganean Hills and even Venice on clear days. The landscaped park, shaded by centuries-old trees, unfolds across multiple terraced levels. Despite its serene and secluded setting, the property lies just a short walk from Asolo’s historic center along Via San Martino. The villa’s charm is revealed in its harmonious proportions, refined stucco work, and beautifully preserved 18th-century Venetian marble - all combining to create a luminous, timeless atmosphere.
The estate is composed of four buildings:
Main Villa – 3 floors, 6 bedrooms, accommodating up to 12 guests
Dependance – 2 floors, 1 bedroom, accommodating 2 guests
Right “Barchessa” – the owner’s residence, with its own independent garden
Chapel
The interior of captivates with its refined elegance: intricate stucco work adorns the walls and ceilings in the late Baroque style. The villa is completely and consistently furnished with antiques, and relaxing in one of the many sofas you wish to drift back to the past... every room exudes history.
Outside, the terrace and garden are furnished with comfortable armchairs and parasols, providing the perfect setting to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. On the east side of the villa, there is a large panoramic terrace covered by a pergola, ideal for al fresco dining. A path leads through orchards and olive groves to a magnificent panoramic swimming pool. The pool area is equipped with sun loungers, parasols, and an adjacent changing room with a shower and toilet. There is also a pergola with a dining area, a kitchenette, a barbecue, a refrigerator, and a large table for up to 12 people, perfect for al fresco meals.

Historical memories and beautiful sceneries, medieval walled towns and Palladian villas blended into the magical landscape surrounding Asolo.
From Asolo, Venice is a easy day trip, as do the Roman ruins and Arena in Verona.
Smaller interesting towns are Valdobiadenne, the home of Prosecco, and Bassano del Grappa, where Grappa originated.
Follow the artistic and historic itineraries visiting the nearby art towns as Treviso, Padova, and Vicenza, the walled cities, and the Palladian villas such as Villa Barbaro (1549) by Andrea Palladio and frescoed by Paolo Veronese.
Wander the boutiques and local artisan shops in the centre of Asolo. Relax in the Villa Cipriani Wellnesspace.
The Asolan Hills and Mount Grappa offer the possibility of excursions on foot or horseback and routes of natural interest, as well wonderful cycle routes.
The summer season includes organized shows and festivals, restaurants near by offer a wide variety ranging from a dinner to the world renowned hotel villa Cipriani to quaint country pizzeria's.
Everywhere in Asolo you can find a “trattoria” to savor the unforgettable dishes of the culinary tradition: as "sarde in saor", Treviso or Castelfranco radicchio (a kind of red lettuce), pasta and beans, pumpkin and white asparagus from Bassano.
Asolo is part of the national circuit of Città Del Vino (Wine Cities), and celebrates in August with special wine tastings its first class wines.
Fabrics and embroidery, hand-painted ceramics and antique furniture represent the Asolan handicrafts: a treasure of an ancient knowledge to discover in the heart of the town:
- The Embroidery School of Asolo for linen, lace and artistic ornaments.
- The colorful ceramics for beautiful vases, and the finely painted cups.
- The antiques market, for furniture, pictures, jewellery in the many antiques galleries under the porticoes and in the squares of the city center.
Antique fairs are held in Asolo every second Sunday in the month.
