Overview
Luxury in the historic centre of Florence
Suite Leonardo is an elegantly furnished, modern apartment with one bedroom in the historic center of Florence. The location could not be better: in Via Maggio, the street of the major Antiques furnitures shops, just next to Palazzo Pitti, and on the other side of Via Tornabuoni, the "fashion street". It can accommodate up to 4 people.
The apartment is located on the third floor with lift of a famous building located half way along Via Maggio. The building offers the possibility to choose between different types of apartments in addition to the Suite Leonardo for 4 such as four other suites for 2-4 people each and therefore allows customers to combine apartments if families or larger groups wish to stay together in the same building.
The palazzo was completely renovated in 2010 but originally dates back to the sixteenth century. All the original materials have been preserved and harmoniously matched with contemporary equivalents during this restoration that converted this palazzo into different apartments. The rooms are designed to preserve the elegance of times past and, at the same time, provide all the modern necessities for present-day guests. It features coffered and vaulted ceilings, not to mention original frescoes whilst the furnishings inside the apartments are luxurious, light and bright, and very comfortable.
The location
Via Maggio, when constructed in the 16th century, was a posh address as the great families of Florence built magnificent palaces near the seat of power at the time, the Pitti Palace. It is one of the few streets in Florence with so many historic buildings along it and it is also home to many luxury antique shops and art galleries which give the street a very stylish character. The road leads from Porta Romana to Via Tornabuoni, and when you step out of the building you immediately find yourself amidst the true spirit of Florence.
Renown as the location of artisants, goldsmiths and restorers, the area is decidedly less traveled than some of the more commercial and touristy avenues. The Oltrarno area (the part of the city centre that lays on the left side of the river Arno) is characterised by narrow streets with beautiful palazzi. This part of the town is well-known for the many authentic workshops belonging to Florentine artisans, not to mention the many local cafes, typical Tuscan restaurants, grocery stores, souvenir stores, and all this just a 5 - 10 minute walk to all the most important monuments in Florence.
The location is just a stones throw from the Pitti Palace and Santo Spirito and just a 5 - 10 minutes from the Duomo, Piazza Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Bargello museum and the Science Museum in Piazza de´Giudici. The area is full of character and history. In the nearby Santo Spirito you will find a daily market that sells a range of fresh goods as well as clothes and other items. There is a small supermarket close by too right infront of the Pitti Palace. A Cappuccino bar for breakfast is just some steps away. Via Maggio leads to the Arno river and Via Tornabuoni, the "fashion street" with it´s elegant designer shops.

I can only say it was wonderful! For me there is no better location in Florence. The apartment is fully equipped - beyond and above, intimate, homely. I have been there 3 times, and as long as I come to Florence again and again I will only stay at Federica's !!

Stunning apartment just a short walk to the Duomo. Furnished beautifully. Extra linen if necessary. Air conditioning. Lift. We stayed 9 days and used it as a base for train or bus day trips to Lucca, Chianti, Bologna as well as the jewels of Florence which are all within walking distance. Thank you!

According to statistics produced by UNESCO, 60% of the world's most important works of art are located in Italy and approximately half of these are in Florence! The city lies on the Arno River and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, especially for its art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, the city is often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages. It was long under the de facto rule of the Medici family. From 1865 to 1870 the city was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. The historic centre of Florence continues to attract millions of tourists each year and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. Strolling through the centre of Florence is a pleasure, the characterful narrow streets which are mostly closed to traffic are full of surprises and temptations.
