Furniture, pictures, books, etc. It was the very wright place for our vacation. Thank you very much for this unforgatable stay at the house. The property keepers where very nice and polite, wanderfull people. We like to make a special mention of Señora Elvira. Her attention, cooking, cleaning was outstanding. Her desire to help and please all the family and the children was remarkable, please tell her our gratitude. Every body in our family fall in love with the house, the region, in brief,
Thank you so much.

Limoneto - the true understated elegance of Tuscany
This exclusive castle, owned by one of the oldest families of Italy, lies fourteen kilometres south-east of Siena. It is within easy reach of such cultural gems as Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra and the Chianti area. Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo are about one and a half hours by car and Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi are equally easy day trips.
The estate has the quality that dreams are made of. A castle with turrets surrounded by a formal garden, a Renaissance chapel and a beautifully converted conservatory - the Limoneto - look accross the valley towards the skyline of Siena, surrounded by 250 hectares of private land.
This Castello is one of Italy's best kept secrets as it is not open to the public, but those fortunate enough to go there are invariably awed by the sheer elegance of its interiors and the mystique that surrounds the place which has not surprisingly been featured in a number of books and publications on the beauties of Tuscany.
The true beauty of the estate lies in its silence and the spectacular view over the surrounding countryside, at a stone's throw from the magical city of Siena, a landscape that has not changed for centuries ...
The former Limoneto, so called because it was a conservatory where lemon trees in terracotta vases were kept in winter, has recently been restored and furnished with an exquisite sense of harmony, space and comfort. (The Limoneto location can be seen on the aerial photo right: building with pool in front of the house).
The ground floor consists of a spacious sitting room with French windows, a dining room that sits twelve, a comfortable country kitchen flooded with sunshine where guests like to have breakfast, and a single bedroom with bathroom (with shower). Glass doors lead from the living room and the kitchen onto a charming terraced garden with a pergola for outdoor meals, a large pool and spectacular views towards the skyline of Siena. Old fashioned Musk roses, rosemary bushes, cyandrus, yellow broom and blue tinged sage fill the air with their fragrances on the Limoneto's landscaped grounds.
The first floor has two double bedrooms with adjoining dressing rooms and en suite bathrooms (with bathtub), two twin-bedded rooms, a single bedroom, two complete bathrooms (one whith bathtub, the other with shower) and an extra WC.
This house has been appealingly decorated with the understated elegance typical of patrician homes in Tuscany. Antique furniture, the muted coloured walls, the comfortable furniture, all blend harmoniously with the well-proportioned architectural features of the house.
The pool is for the exclusive use of guests. There is also a tennis court on the premises.
The local village: The sleepy hill-top village of Sovicille is a ten minute drive from the house. At the centre of the charming main square is a fountain and there are just three tables in front of the bar which doubles as the village food store, a perfect spot for the morning cappuccino before you venture out on sightseeing tours or more serious shopping at the weekly markets in the neighboring villages.
Distances: Sovicille, the closest village is at a 10 minutes' drive. Siena can be reached in 20 minutes, Montalcino in 30 minutes,
Arezzo and Pienza in 45 minutes, Florence in 1 hour, Lucca and Porto Ercole in 1,5 hours and Pisa in 2 hours.
