Palazzo Garda is a wonderful example of 18th century Venetian architecture. Set in the lively lake resort of Toscalano Maderno on lake Garda, this spacious and elegant apartment is located on the Piano Nobile (upper floor) of a three stories building. Outside, the shared garden offers lovely areas for relaxing in the shade or sunbathing by the lake.

It is possible to walk into the village, where you will find coffee bars, restaurants, grocery stories, post office, bank, and Tabacchi shops within one kilometer. Within a two minutes´ walk you can reach the small beach of the Porticciolo (little harbour). Within 10 minutes by car you reach the Toscolano Maderno beach which offers you swimming, windsurfing and sailing. The closest train station is at Desenzano del Garda (27 km).

Palazzo Garda has a nice view overlooking the little Porticciolo (small harbour) and the lake. It is the perfect place for those who want an authentic experience in a special atmosphere. The maid lives near the property and provides house cleaning service five days per week. An Australian friend of the owner will meet the guests at their arrival.

This antique property is located just a few kilometres from the historical centre of Toscolano Maderno, one of the most popular holidays resort on Lake Garda. Lake Garda, with its clear warm water, sunny beaches, mild climate, and Mediterranean vegetation has been a favorite spot since Roman times and has inspired poets and writers through the ages, for example, Catullus, Goethe, Joyce and D'Annunzio. It unites its natural beauty with the traces of its history, from Roman remains to Liberty. There are many interesting little towns along the coast and up in the hills - Salò (8 km) and Gardone Riviera (4 km), the beautiful Sirmione (37 km) - rich of history, culture, good restaurants and shops.

Palazzo Garda is located on a road used only by people living in the area or going to the little porticciolo (small harbor) next to the house. During the summer season, there could be some noise from the harbor, but it should not be problematic, since the harbor is quite small.

Palazzo Garda is a large apartment located on the Piano Nobile (upper floor) of a beautiful 18th century Palazzo. In the same building there are also the house of the owner (second floor) and two other rental units (ground floor). one of which also featured in our portfolio. For this reason the garden (800 sqm) is shared with other people. Please take note that the main part of the garden and the furnished marble column patio are exclusively reserved to the guest of our rental. There are four sunloungers for our guests and a table with chairs to seat seven people. The other guests will use the garden only to reach the access to the lake. A parking for two cars is available in the hallway. It is also suggested to use the very comfortable public parking lots just in front of the building.

A splendid Pietra Serena staircase (36 steps) leads to the upper floor - Piano Nobile - where the apartment is located. The whole floor measures 700 sqm. Furnished with beautiful antiques, all of the rooms are decorated with frescoes dating back to 1798. Floors are antique cotto.

The bright frescoed living room overlooks the lake, the harbor and the garden. A smaller living room is outfitted with TV, CD player and access to a balcony overlooking the garden. A large frescoed dining room has a table for eight. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a dishwasher and washing machine. There are four bedrooms: one large, frescoed twin bedroom with en suite bathroom (with shower) two double bedrooms sharing a bathroom with shower, and a single bedroom.

Palazzo Garda can be combined with Casa della Legna (also featured in our portfolio), a separate accommodation adjacent to the apartment, for groups of up to 11 guests.

Activities in the area

On Lake Garda you can find facilities for almost any kind of sport and activity, from windsurfing to sailing, golf to rock-climbing, bungee-jumping to trekking, from cycling to horseback riding. Either alone or with a guide/instructor and for any level from beginner to expert: there is as much choice as anyone could wish for. You can ride mountain-bike, do cycling, horse-riding, pony-trekking, there are swimming-pools (outdoor and indoor pool in Salò) and tennis courts. Lake Garda is just the place for relaxing but active holidays.

The Circolo Golf Bogliaco in Toscolano Maderno is 3 km from the property. This is the oldest golf course around the lake dating from 1912. The course has 9 holes (plus a practice area) and is based in a hollow 100 m above the lake. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation it offers a splendid view of the lake. Gardagolf Country Club in Soiano del Garda is 21 km far. This is a 27 hole course (110 hectares) in the hills of Valtenesi. It has fine lake views as well.

Families with children won´t want to miss the two theme parks at: Gardaland www.gardaland.it in Castelnuovo del Garda (30 minutes by ferry + 25 km) and Caneva World www.canevaworld.it in Lazise sul Garda (30 minutes by ferry + 15 km).
